Preferred Volume to Collect: 5.0 mL

Minimum Volume to Collect: 2.0 mL

Neonate Volume to Collect: 1.0 mL

Collection Instructions:

  • Gently invert tube 8 - 10 times to mix clot activator with blood.
  • Allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes
  • Specimen should be processed within 2 hours – See Processing Instructions.

Elevated PTH levels may be seen in hyperparathyroidism and can also be suggestive of vitamin D deficiency.
