Venom-specific IgG tests may be useful for monitoring the progress of venom immunotherapy.

Specimen Collection: Blood
- Container(s): Gold Top (Serum Separator-SST Gel)
- Preferred Volume to Collect: Full tube (5 mL)
- Minimum Volume to Collect: 2.0 mL
- Neonate Volume to Collect: 2.0 mL
- Capillary collect ok? Yes
- Microtainer acceptable: Yes
Collection Instructions:
- Gently invert gold tube(s) 8 – 10 times to mix clot activator with blood.
- Specimen should be processed within 2 hours – See Processing Instructions.
- 1 full tube per 15 – 20 allergens.

Methodology
The test method used is the Phadia ImmunoCAP IgG assay which has been recalibrated to correlate with the venom IgG assay in Golden et al (JACI 1992;90:386-393).This test has not been cleared or approved for diagnostic use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
