Specimen Requirements
Submit both of the following specimens:
Specimen Type: Serum
Container/Tube: Gold Top (Serum Separator Tube – Gel)
Volume: 1 mL (2 Gold Top tubes preferred)
Minimum volume: 0.5 mL serum
Collection Instructions: Allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes and centrifuge within 2 hours
Specimen Type: Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)
Container/Tube: Spinal Fluid Collection tube or pour-over tube
Volume: 1 mL
Minimum volume: 0.2 mL CSF
Collection Instructions: Centrifuge and analyze immediately upon arrival in the lab.
Special Instructions
Serum drawn within 72 hours of CSF collection is acceptable. Serum MUST be collected in order to calculate CSF IgG Index and Synthesis. 2 serum tubes are preferered.
