Collection Instructions

NOTE: Multiple specimen types. Other samples than what is listed below may be acceptable, please contact Molecular Diagnostics for other acceptable sample types (616.486.6280)

Specimen Collection: Blood or Bone Marrow

Container(s): Lavender EDTA

Preferred volume to collect: 3.0 mL

Minimum volume to collect: 1.0 mL

Neonate volume to collect: 1.0 mL

Collection Instructions:

Collect bone marrow and transfer marrow from syringe to Lavender EDTA tube.
Gently invert EDTA tube(s) 7 – 8 times after collection.

Processing Instructions (Laboratory, Outpatient or Off-site collection)

Transport Temperature: Ambient

Specimen Collection: Fresh or Frozen tissue

Container(s): Sterile container

Collection Instructions:

Fresh tissue: Place in sterile container with sterile saline. Store and transport refrigerated.
Frozen tissue: Place in sterile container capable of withstanding frozen temperatures and flash freeze. Transport on dry ice.

Specimen Stability

Ambient: 24 hours

Refrigerate: 72 hours

Laboratory Retention: Extracted DNA is retained for 1 year
