Clinical Information
The presence of a BRAF fusion is reliable evidence that the tumor is a pilocytic astrocytoma (PA), provided the histology is compatible. BRAF fusion is associated with better prognosis in pediatric low-grade astrocytoma. The likelihood of a BRAF fusion in a pilocytic astrocytoma decreases with age.
