Epic Code LAB1230931 HLA Donor Typing Class I
Test Name Alias
Donor HLA Class I Typing, HLA typing, tissue typing, HLA-A, B, C typing, DITYP
Interface Order Alias
1230931
Clinical Information
HLA Class I genotyping defines the antigens of the HLA-A, B and C loci of the Major Histocompatibility Complex found on the short arm of chromosome 6. Using DNA extracted from leukocytes, HLA-A, B, and C alleles are amplified via PCR using sequence-specific primers. After amplification, the specific HLA antigens are determined by gel electrophoresis. HLA genotyping serves an important role in transplantation and disease association studies.
