Epic Code LAB1230935 HLA Class II Typing
Test Name Alias
DNA-based histocompatibility testing, disease association, histocompatibility, HLA DR testing, Donor HLA typing, Class II Typing, CIITY
Interface Order Alias
1230935
Clinical Information
HLA Class II genotyping defines the antigens of the HLA-DRB1 and DQB1 loci of the Major Histocompatibility Complex found on the short arm of chromosome 6. Using DNA extracted from leukocytes, HLA-DRB1 and DQB1 alleles are amplified via PCR using sequence-specific primers. After amplification, the specific HLA antigens are determined by gel electrophoresis. HLA genotyping serves an important role in transplantation and disease association studies.
