Collection Instructions

Specimen Collection: Osom Vaginal Swab Transport System required

• Alternate swabs and collection systems cannot be used
• Cervical Collection is not recommended.

1. Collect specimens from the vaginal cavity with a sterile rayon swab supplied in the kit. 
2. Collect specimens from the lower one-third of the vaginal wall.
3. Collect as much fluid as possible.
4. Process the swab as soon as possible after collecting the specimen. 

• Label the outside container from Transport System with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and actual time of collection, collector’s initials, and type of specimen.
