- Avoid hemolysis.
- After collection, gently invert tube 8-10 times.
- Specimen should be processed within 30 minutes – See Processing Instructions.

- Allow the specimen to clot for 30 minutes
- Centrifuge the specimen to separate serum from the cellular fraction.
- Serum must be removed from the cellular fraction within 4 hours of specimen collection
- Remove the stopper.
- Carefully transfer with plastic pipette the serum specimen into a metal free vial, avoiding transfer of the cellular components of blood
- Do not ream the specimen with a wooden stick to assist with serum transfer.
- Minimum plasma/serum volume: 1.0 mL
