Intended for the qualitative detection of IgG and IgM antibodies to Cytomegalovirus (CMV). 

Intended as an aid in the diagnosis of current or recent Cytomegalovirus infection.

  • Container(s): Gold Top (Serum Separator-SST Gel)
    • Preferred Volume to Collect: 5.0 mL
    • Minimum Volume to Collect: 2.0 mL
    • Neonate Volume to Collect: 2.0 mL
  • Capillary collect ok: Yes
  • Microtainer acceptable: Yes
  • Collection Instructions:
    • Gently invert gold tube(s) 8 - 10 times to mix clot activator with blood.
    • Specimen should be processed within 2 hours – See Processing Instructions.

    • Allow blood to clot for 30 minutes in a vertical position and centrifuge within 2 hours.

Equivocal Obtain additional sample for retesting in 2-3 weeks.
Positive IgG CMV IgG antibodies detected which may indicate previous exposure to CMV
Positive IgM CMV IgM antibodies detected which may indicate a current or recent infection.
