Histone Antibodies - Histone antibody is present in 80-95% of patients with drug-induced Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), 20-50% of patients with idiopathic SLE, and infrequently in patients with other autoimmune connective tissue diseases.
Specimen Requirements
- Overnight fasting preferred.
Specimen Collection Criteria
Collect: One Gold-top SST tube.
Also Acceptable: One plain Red-top tube.

Let specimen clot 30-60 minutes then centrifuge to separate serum from cells. Transfer serum to plastic transport tube and maintain at refrigerate (2-8°C or 36-46) prior to transport.
