Clinical Information
IgD (molecular weight 185 kD) is one of the 5 classes of human immunoglobulins. IgD accounts for less than 1% of the total plasma immunoglobulins. Very high serum IgD concentrations can be found in multiple myeloma patients. Raised levels are also found in hyperimmunoglobulinemia IgD syndrome (HIDS).

Collect: One Gold-top SST tube.
Also Acceptable: One plain Red-top tube.
Physician Office/Draw Specimen Preparation
Let specimen clot 30-60 minutes then centrifuge to separate serum from cells. Transfer serum to plastic transport tube and maintain at refrigerate (2-8°C or 36-46) prior to transport.
