Epic Code LAB1231948 Fungal Panel 1, Immunodiffusion

Test Name Alias

LAB1231194 | Quest: 7649 | FUNGAL PANEL | Fungal Antibodies by Immunodiffusion

Interface Order Alias

1231948

Clinical Information

This assay includes

  • Aspergillus Antibodies, Immunodiffusion
  • Blastomyces Antibody, Immunodiffusion
  • Coccidioides Antibody (IgG), Immunodiffusion
  • Histoplasma Antibody, Immunodiffusion

Fungal Panel 1, Immunodiffusion - This immunodiffusion assay is highly specific for histoplasmosis infection but may have low sensitivity in early infection. Two different immunoprecipitin bands may be detected. The M band develops with acute infection, is often present in chronic infection, and may persist for months to years. The H band, which is usually present with the M band, generally suggests a chronic or severe acute infection. The presence of both the H and M bands is considered conclusive for the diagnosis of histoplasmosis.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Collection Criteria

Collect: One Gold-top SST tube.
Also acceptable: One plain Red-top tube.

Physician Office/Draw Specimen Preparation

Let specimen clot 30-60 minutes then centrifuge to separate serum from cells . Transfer serum to a plastic transport tube and maintain at room temperature (20-26°C or 68-78.8°F) prior to transport.

In-Lab Processing
