Clinical Information
The BCR-ABL1 assay uses real-time rtPCR to detect the BCR-ABL1 major (p210) and minor (p190) transcripts from the t(9;22) translocation, which can be used to monitor minimal residual disease in patients with CML.
Collection Instructions
Multiple specimen collection types. Submit only one:
Specimen Collection: Blood OR Bone Marrow (BM)
Container/Tube: 6.0 mL Pink EDTA or Lavender EDTA
Preferred volume to collect: 6.0 mL
Minimum volume to collect: 6.0 mL
Collection Instructions:
- Gently invert tube 8-10 times after collection
- For optimal results, specimen should be received and processed within 24 hours of collection.
Processing Instructions (Laboratory, Outpatient or Off-site collection)
Spin: No
Aliquot: No
Transport Temperature: If received within 24 hours of collection, specimen can be transported at ambient temperature or refrigerated.
If transport will exceed 24 hours, recommend specimen be refrigerated.
Specimen Stability
Ambient: <24 hours
Refrigerate: <72 hours
Laboratory Retention: Extracted RNA retained greater than 1 year
Test Frequency
Available at least once per week, usual TAT less than 7 days

An interpretative report will be provided.
