This is not the same test as Cytopathology. If Cytopathology diagnosis is desired, please order separately.

Collection Instructions

Specimen Collection: Body Fluid

 

Container(s): Lavender Top (EDTA) 3.0 mL

Preferred Volume to Collect: 3.0 mL

Minimum Volume to Collect: 0.5 mL

Neonate Volume to Collect: 0.5 mL

 

Collection Instructions:

  • For EDTA: Gently invert 8 - 10 times after collection.
  • Specimen must be received within 6 hours of collection

 

Processing Instructions (Laboratory, Outpatient or Off-site collection)

  • Transport Temperature: Refrigerated

Rejection Criteria

  • Frozen specimens
  • Specimens that are entirely clotted (with exception of synovial fluids)

Specimen Stability

Ambient: 4 hours

Refrigerate: 24 hours

Frozen: not acceptable

Laboratory Retention: 72 hours

Test Frequency

Available Monday - Friday, 8 am - 6 pm

Turn-around time: 1 - 2 days
