Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Devices residing in human: pacemaker, hardware (leads, pegs, screws). Catheter up to 3 cm.

Container/Tube: Sterile container (cup)

Collection Instructions:

  • Place devices into sterile container (cup)
  • Please order anaerobic culture (LAB233) for intrauterine device (IUD) specimens with concern for Actinomyces.
  • Not acceptabe: Foley catheters
