This test will be ordered as reflex to positive or borderline Heparin Dependent Antibody results.
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Serum
Container/Tube: 2 Red Top (no additive)
Volume: 12 mL
Minimum volume: 5 mL serum (Pediatric minimum: 1 mL serum)
Collection Instructions:
- Allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes and centrifuge within 2 hours.
- Aliquot serum into screw top transport vial and refrigerate.
- Minimum volumes listed are in serum or plasma, draw approximately 2 1/2 times the requested volume in whole blood.
