Clinical Information
This test will be ordered as reflex to positive or borderline Heparin Dependent Antibody results but also remains as an orderable test (can still be ordered without ordering Heparin Dependent Antibody first) and may be an appropriate test to order initially in ECMO or other mechanical circulatory assist patients where the Heparin Dependent Antibody test maybe unreliable.
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Serum
Container/Tube: 2 Red Top (no
additive)
Volume:12 mL
Minimum volume: 5 mL serum (Pediatric minimum: 1
mL serum)
Collection Instructions: Allow specimen to clot
for 30 minutes and centrifuge within 2 hours. Aliquot serum into
screw top transport vial and refrigerate. Minimum volumes
listed are in serum or plasma, draw approximately 2 1/2 times the
requested volume in whole blood.
