Minimum Volume to Collect: 1.0 mL

Neonate Volume to Collect: 0.5 mL

Collection Instructions:

  • Protect from light after collecting - avoid prolonged exposure to light.
    • Inpatient collection - deliver to lab as soon as possible
    • Outpatient collection - wrap tube in paper towel or tinfoil or use amber aliquot tube.
  • Avoid hemolysis.
  • After collection, gently invert tube 8-10 times.
  • Specimen should be processed within 2 hours See Processing Instructions.
