Clinical Information

Transglutaminase IgA Antibody is a highly sensitive and specific marker for celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis, and should be used as the primary screening test for these disorders. Transglutaminase IgG Antibody is less specific for these diseases, but may be a useful marker in patients with IgA deficiency.

Preferred Volume to Collect: 5.0 mL

Minimum Volume to Collect: 2.0 mL

Neonate Volume to Collect: 2.0 mL

Collection Instructions:

  • Gently invert gold tube(s) 8-10 times to mix clot activator with blood.
  • Specimen should be processed within 2 hours – See Processing Instructions.

  • Allow blood to clot for 30 minutes in a vertical position and centrifuge within 2 hours.
